Robin Haller – Soul Tired

Soul Tired explores materiality as grief, reflecting on the loss of my mother in September 2022. The dichotomy of materials represents both the physical and psychological dimensions of loss – of history, tradition, routine, and all that did not continue. Abstracted photographic imagery symbolizes grief’s distorting effects, while hand-dyeing and weaving on the TC2 jacquard loom conveys time’s passage through layered imagery. The process itself mirrors the stages of grief and its catharsis.

Techniques:

Handwoven; hand-dyed warp

Dimensions:

54″ x 44″ x .5″

10/2 cotton; rayon; metallic thread

TC2 hand-jacquard loom
