Jujitsunagi is the name of a sashiko (Japanese stitching) pattern, named for the Japanese kanji character for 10, written as a cross. The character suggests prosperity, increasing as the tens increase. The linked crosses create a tessellation, well suited to the workings of a draw loom. Using a 5 shaft satin ground weave and 10 pattern shafts, a silk damask is created, warp faced on the “front”, weft faced on the back. The 30/2 silk warp and 20/2 silk weft interlace to create an elegant look of prosperity.
